Booking a course
To make a booking, please visit our Workshop page and make your booking online. Decide which course(s) you would like to do and click the ‘Add to cart’ button underneath the description and price – a shopping basket will open at the bottom of the page with your course(s) added in. You can check out with Paypal. You will receive an e-mail from us confirming your place and with any extra details that you’ll need to know
(You can also book a course in person on a Tuesday or Wednesday evening, we can also accept card payments on those evenings)
Group sizes on our courses are limited, due to the size of the studio/darkroom, some courses that do not require the darkroom can be run with higher numbers, this will be indicated in the course description. All our courses are suitable for people with no printmaking experience unless otherwise stated.
All our courses come with materials provided, some courses may require you to send us images in advance (the cyanotype workshop for examples, where we turn your images into digital negatives ready for the start of the course). No previous photography experience is needed for the majority of our courses and workshops, if any prior knowledge in needed we will state this in the course description.
If you cannot attend the course, we are happy for you to give your booking to someone else, as long as you inform us by email, and we will swap their details, so that we can send pre-course information.
We can also transfer a booking to another course we will be running in the future.
If a refund is required we will give a full refund if cancelled before 7 days of the event, any less than that will incur a 20% cancellation charge.
What you will need
We will provide most of the materials you will need for your course, suggested extras will be indicated in the confirmation email, sent by the tutor of the course.
We have some aprons at the Workshop, but we do advise you bring your own or wear clothes that you do not mind getting stained with chemicals or dyes.
There will be tea, coffee and biscuits at the workshop. For full day workshops please bring lunch with you; alternatively, there are a range of shops and cafes on Narborough Road.
If your work is not dry you can leave it at the studio and collect at a later date. Whilst we take great care please note LLFP cannot take responsibility for work left in the studio or for any personal belongings left in the studio during or after the course.
Getting to the Workshop
We are about a 30 minute walk from the center, and in easy walking distance from Narborough Road, which is served by several buses (First 18 – Arriva 50, 51 from the City Center), we are in a residential area, with permit parking, so finding a space to park may take a while, but there are places around.
The course will commence promptly at the time stated in the course details. Please arrive no earlier than 15 minutes before the start time. The tutor arrives early to prepare and needs the time prior to your arrival to ensure the workshop is appropriately set up for the course.
Clean up and departure
Courses usually finish on time. The tutor will ask you to begin cleaning up 15 minutes before the end of the course.
Unfortunately, we do not have disabled access, there is a couple of small steps in to the building. The darkroom is, as the name suggests, fairly dark when it’s in use, light is provided by small red lights on the walls and ceilings, so movement around the area should be done with care.
